Rocco could have been uncle tony's son. He came from Italy in 1904 just months before the accident. He was just a kid, 16 maybe. I read your page, nicely done, great pictures. You said Lucy visited and then returned to Italy. She might have been a sister to my great grandpa. Who was her husband? It's Lucy's family that will connect Leonardo since they are at the 1860's level. It is a coincidence probably that Antoinetta married a Russo. Russo is the second most common name in Italian. My grandma Lucy Pinto married John Russo in Roseto PA. around 1906. She was the oldest and I think since her dad died the family was in a hurry to get her married. They had nine children, the oldest was my dad. Cathy

Wow, you're the first I've met who remembers the fireworks. If you know how Leonardo was related I would love to know. He was born around 1860. Could have been your grandmas uncle. Do you know Maria Rosa's maiden name? Fireworks were a family production back then and much different than American fireworks. My great grandfather Leo and his nephew? Rocco are both in Holy Cross cemetery in Philly. One of his daughters had a stone put on his grave. Really, I know nothing more about these relatives. Anything you have would be appreciated. Thanks. Greetings to all....To Cathy McKoski: We must certainly be related in some way! My father, Carlo Potorti, would often speak about his relative who began a new job in a fireworks factory, and was subsequently killed when the factory exploded. He told me this story many times.

The Lucy Pinto you speak of on 22nd Street was most likely the wife of Tony Pinto - owner of an ice cream cone factory. Tony and Lucy were my father's aunt and uncle, and they lived in West Philadelphia.

In one of the comments, a Dominick Pinto was mentioned. This may have been Dominick Potorti, my uncle and my father's brother from Philadelphia.

Your comments have meant a great deal to me! God Bless!

Hi, I've tried to put all the Pinto's together who passed through Roseto PA but gave up. There were a few Lucys and some Leonardo's. My g-grandpa was a Leonardowho moved to Roseto Pa who had a cousin also named Leo who was from Philly. My grandfather worked with explosives and was killed in a fireworks factory explosion in Camden in 1904. He had a daughter named Lucy and one named Rose. Then there was a Lucy on 22nd st. in Philly, married to a Gionnino. Maybe you can piece them together.

Welcome Marian, I'm glad that you found my website. I am sure that you will find some Pinto ancestry here; along with many lost cousins. Be sure to stop by often to see what is new and participate. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. - Phil

My grandmother, Maria Rosa Pinto, was from Roseto Valfortore, but immigrated to Philadelphia. Nevertheless, she had many relatives in the PA Roseto, which we loved to visit. Do I remember their names - unfortunately, I do not. All I can ask is for anyone who may be interested to visit my site and contact me if they remember us. God Bless to all of you!
