Lynda, Jack is the right guy to have on the case! He took it upon himself to help me out when I was trying to pin down the location of my great grandfather's house. The Presbyterian Cemetery's graves are mostly well marked, so if your great grandf...

At the time in question, Rt. 512 didn't run through Bangor, and even now, it's still just Market Street, only two lanes and parking spots. But to go from Mt. Carmel Church to St. John's Cemetery one has to go down a very big hill, and then go part...

Lynda, Just checking on Google Earth, it's about 0.6 mile from the front of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church to the closest point of St. John's Cemetery, as the crow flies, so maybe 3/4 mile at the most following the streets. My mom's parents, and se...

Lynda, Besides the two Catholic cemeteries in Roseto, the one at the church and the new one at the other end of town, plus the "Presbyterian" cemetery (its real name is Evangelical), there is a very large public cemetery in Bangor -- St. John's (a...

Thank you for the birthday wishes. I live close to Jersey Village - near Jones Road and Eldridge in the subdivision behind the DPS building on 290. I travel to Sealy at least once a month so I know the area in which you live. I've been here since 92 and you?

Yes my Uncle Louie was "The New York Barber" who lived at the intersection of Dante Street and Front Street and Eisenhower Blvd. He walked to his shop every day.I can recall that if I went to his shop around lunch he might be enjoying a loaf of Italian bread and raw eggs !!! Ugh. I tried to stay away at lunch time. I wouldn't rule out about being related. If anyone would know if there is a family connection between us it would be my sister Joan Hanna. She is like my mother and aunts and seems to know all the connections among the many Rosetans. She lives on Front Street in " Bangor Junction" just a couple houses up from the old Martino's Store.

Hello, I do not believe we are related but I am not certain. I do recall my mother and aunts had knowledge of all the Rosetans and their heritage. They knew everyone"s in laws, maid of honors etc. etc. . I do not recall anything about being related to the Rosatos. We lived at 82 front Street next door to the Guidos whose house bordered the borough line. So we were the third house up from Third Avenue- Vicario on the corner, then Guido, then De Lorenzo. Yes, Louie De Lorenzo the barber was my father's first cousin. He was just full of life and I loved to have my hair cut there. You may recall the picture in the barber shop of a boxer. That was your uncle Joe Rosato. My dad was old buddies with Al Bartoli who cut hair with Louie. I think in their younger days they probably ran around together with my Uncle Pompei who introduced my father to my mother. My mother's brother in law was also a barber, Louie Vinceguerra so sometimes I had to go there for a haircut at 7 th and Penna. Avenue. I never knew my grandfather , Nicola Cacciacarro. He died in the 1920's. I believe it was a quarry accident or maybe he fell when painting a church steeple in Bangor. My Uncle Pompei was also full of life and brought great joy to me. I was in Roseto a few weeks ago for my cousin Anthony's funeral. I do not recall you but I was happy to hear from you. I very often think of Roseto. Growing up, the grandparents did not want the kids speaking Italian .They wanted us to be assimilated and not be discriminated against. I resent that I cannot speak Italian except for the vulgarities picked up as a kid.

Ken, Where is Marie and what is she doing? My friend Lucille asked about her because her sister was friends with Marie. I was telling her about Janet & Elaine. Thanks & keep me posted...let them know we were asking about them & wish them well.

Thanks for the birthday wish! I met a cousin while I was in Roseto...Gregorio Policelli. His family is still there and he showed me the book in addition to giving me a tour of the village and pointing out my great-grandmother's house. I thumbed through the book, but don't remember if I saw her name or not. It must be the same family.

Hi Ken,
Thanks so much for the added info. Certainly something else to look forward to when we go there. It all sounds so great and worth checking out - almost wish we were going right now! We'll put your info in our Texas file so we can find it when the time comes. We will also send it to our son. Some of his friends/fellow students may be familiar with these. Thanks again, Dominic and Aileen

Glad to hear you had such a wonderful birthday dinner! Sounds very interesting and inviting! We don't have such an opportunity in our area but we will certainly be on the look out for such an experience when we travel again to an area that may present such - now that we know such a great event can exist/occur! We mentioned it to our son but being so new to the Texas area he is not aware of these as yet but I'm sure by the time we arrive he'll have researched the area and find the closest place that perhaps we can take an excursion to and will be able to experience the delight you've had. He would love the chance to have the experience as much as we would. Thank you for sharing this great culinary experience with us. We really hope we have the chance to 'go for it' soon. Dominic and Aileen
