I checked with my Aunt in NJ and she always thought it was Ruggiero, but maybe her mothers' name was Ruggiero. Anyway ..are there any Di Franco still in Roseto?

At 3:01am on October 26, 2009, John A Fleno said…: Cesare, My name is John Fleno. My grandfather was born in Roseto VF in 1891 and migrated to US. His name was Nickolais (Nickolas) Daniel Fleno and he had 2 brothers, William and Daniel. Their parents name were Nicholas and Lucy Ruggiero.
I was planning a trip in April 2010 to Roseto and was wondering if there are any Fleno's still there? Also I'm wondering if the Fleno name was "americanized" from Foligno or Filigno.

Is it possible for you to lead me in the right direction to find out if the name Emanuele, (my Mothers maiden name) or D'Uvo,(my fathers name) is listed the Roseto phone book? My wife & I plan on visiting Roseto mid October 09 and would like to see if I have any distant cousins.
It would be greatly appreciated.

She is apparently the daughter of that Giuseppe Sabatino, who lived next door to my family, and who you said was related to us. I have not heard back from her yet - but am hoping she will reply. My cousin Rosa Palozzi found her number and gave it to me; she is not sure how much English she speaks so I didn't want to try to phone her. Anyway Rosa tells me that her grandfather Nicolo Domenico Sabatino (my great uncle) used to call Giuseppe's father Francesco - uncle. But she doesn't know if that was just because the families were close or if indeed we were related. Will be interesting to find out. The only thing I can think of is that maybe this Francesco was a brother to my great grandfather Matteo Sabatino -but nobody seems to know that. Will be interesting to find out. Ciao
